Shanghai Pudong leads Chinese airports with 20m cross-border trips
Shanghai Pudong International Airport recorded its 20 millionth cross-border trip of the year on July 25, marking a 21 percent increase year-on-year and reaffirming its position as the busiest airport in China for international passenger traffic.
Among the 20 million entries and exits, more than 5.6 million were made by international travelers, a significant increase of 44 percent compared with the same period last year.
About 1.46 million overseas travelers entered China under visa-free policies, accounting for more than half of all international arrivals.
To enhance the travel experience for international passengers, the airport's border inspection station has introduced several facilitation measures.
These include pre-arrival categorization of inbound foreign passengers, pre-screening of transit applications, and unified processing of entry and transit at the same counter, significantly improving customs clearance efficiency and reducing wait times.
The airport currently operates more than 580 international flights daily, connecting to over 100 overseas destinations. Several new routes to Central Asia and Europe have been added this year.
